A new place to discover: the Galeries Montparnasse
Posted in "Paris" le
The Parisian cultural scene is constantly reinventing itself and offering new experiences. The start of the year presents the perfect time for the opening of the Galeries Montparnasse. The Queen Mary Hotel team tells you a little about this huge new cultural space…
A dynamic new cultural hub
In 2018, the Galeries Lafayette abandoned this 10,000 m² building located a few steps from the Gare Montparnasse, in the heart of a district whose history is intimately linked to artistic creation. Taken over by the Teamstadia agency, the place has been transformed into a dynamic space entirely dedicated to culture and events, reflecting a desire to focus on immersion and fun. The scenography is provided by a renowned professional, Jeanne Massart, whose work is known to fans of the Rock en Seine, We Love Green and Printemps de Bourges festivals.
An exciting events schedule
The Galeries Montparnasse is being launched in style with two very different exhibitions. The first is Lego: the Art of the Brick, which offers you a stunning collection of art made entirely of the famous bricks, including reimagined versions of some of the world’s greatest masterpieces. A titanic effort involving more than a million coloured bricks. From February, it’s time to immerse yourself in the magic of ancient Egypt. Alongside archaeologist Howard Carter, you’ll travel back in time to 1922 and embark on a fabulous adventure to discover the tomb of Tutankhamun. You’ll move among copies of authentic objects made by the Cairo Museum and be required to solve puzzles. The highlight of the show is a majestic projection in the room containing the pharaoh's sarcophagus!
An accessible, immersive and friendly place, the Galeries Montparnasse offer a very contemporary and uninhibited vision of culture. Please bear in mind that it’s a good idea to reserve your tickets as early as possible, even before your arrival at the Hotel Queen Mary.
